The Role of The Church in the Kingdom of God
I never realized how much understanding about the The Role of The Church in the Kingdom of God is explained in I Corinthians 12 until I started this writing project. But this morning, as I started to read that chapter, I was stopped short at I Corinthians 12:3,
:
KJV: Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. As I read this verse, I realized just as accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is the first of the Seven Dynamics that need to be activated in a person’s life in order for genuine spiritual growth to take place, that is also the instruction given in God’s Word.
I have made it a practice to lead every person who comes to me for counseling in a prayer to accept Jesus as their Saviour and Lord of their life. If they have already done this in the past, I ask them if they will do it again for my benefit. Of course, the true believers readily agree to pray the prayer for my benefit, simply because their heart wants the entire world to know about the joy that is in their heart now that Jesus is in their heart. Sometmes repeating this prayer is all that a counselee has to do to get their life back on track, and out of the quagmire of destructive habits, sabotaging thoughts, and expectations put on others that have led them into despair.
Here is the prayer that I now use:
“Our Dear heavenly Father, I come to you as a sinner in need of a saviour. I thank you Lord that your Word says in I John 1:9, that if I confess my sins to You, You are faithful to forgive me for all of my sins. And so, Lord, i do confess my sins to you, and I thank you for forgiving me for all of my sins. I ask you, Jesus, to come into my heart and be my Saviour and Lord of my life, and to cleanse my heart of all unrighteousness, and make it as white as snow. I ask you to anoint me from the top of my head to the tip of my toes with your precious Holy Spirit, and to fill me to overflowing with Your love, and Your joy and Your peace. I ask you to illuminate Your Word, so that when i read it, it is made abundantly clear to me. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart, and being my Saviour and Lord of my life, and for cleansing my heart of all unrighteousness and making it as white as snow, and giving me the assurance that I will spend eternity with you in heaven, not because of anything I have done, but because of what you did for me when You shed your blood and died on the cross for my sins. In Jesus name I pray. Amen”.
